Here at Fred Anderson Toyota of Charleston, we love Toyota's pickup truck offerings for delivering great features and real off-road performance, something other pickups in the industry seem to have forgotten. A couple weeks ago, we brought you some of our favorite features of the mid-size Tacoma. This time around, we're focusing on its bigger brother, the full-size Toyota Tundra
- Off-road capabilities: Both the Tacoma and Tundra models offer TRD trim levels that deliver specific off-road-focused features, making for an effortless transition from asphalt to trail. The Tundra TRD Pro offers off-road-tuned suspension including Bilstein shock absorbers, 18-inch alloy wheels, and off-road tires. The TRD Off-Road package can be added to certain trims, and features skid plates, tow hooks, trail-tuned suspension, and off-road tires.
- Standard V-8 engine: If there's one thing that's no missing from Toyota's biggest truck, it's power. Under the hood, the Tundra is motivated by a 4.6-liter V-8 engine that generates 310 horsepower and 327 pound-feet of torque. A 5.7-liter V-8 power plant is also available, generating more than 380 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque. Properly equipped, the engines can tow up to 6,800 (4.6-liter) and 10,500 (5.7-liter) pounds, respectively.
- In-cabin technology: The Tundra comes standard with a 6.1-inch touchscreen interface with Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity. This is upgradeable to a 7-inch touchscreen with Entune infotainment system, smartphone connectivity, and traffic information and navigation.
- Made in America: Toyota might be a Japanese company, but the Tundra is made here at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Texas, Inc. in San Antonio.
